Considered as one of the pioneering brands in the coffee-shop industry, is Green Mountain Coffee Roasters; established in 1981 as a small café in Vermont where their main attraction is serving of coffee right off the roasting bin. The company uses 100% Arabica coffees (coffea arabica) and with over a hundred variations, GMCR proudly boasts of its signature blends, flavored and Fair Trade Certified line of specialty coffee. 

Its main roasting and distribution facility is located in Waterbury, Vermont. This 90,000 square foot facility is also supported by four (4) distribution centers, strategically located in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts and Upstate New York.  

With the advent of specialty coffee shops, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters grew as well in terms of business and scope, expanding from a brick and mortar establishment to e-commerce as it expanded its reach to online purchasing through its www.greenmountaincoffee.com. Also, acquisition of Keurig Incorporated, a brewing systems manufacturer, was one of the major business decisions of GMCR in 2006.
